She is preceded in death by her mother, Lezima Reed.  She has one brother, Johnny Glen Fusilier, who she always looked up to even though he was younger. She married Mayance Hollier in 1954 and had celebrated 52 years when he passed away ten years ago. Together they raised 4 children, three daughters, Glenda, Debbie & Peggy, and one son, John. John was born with special needs and, at that time they had no education for specials needs children; she and a few other parents of special needs joined together & overcame many challenges yet succeeded in starting the first school in Jefferson parish for special needs children called P.A.R.C. She went on to become part of an organization called Crippled Children’s Association that raised money to financially help families whose children had medical needs. She has four grandchildren, two girls, Taylor & Cara, and two boys, Tyler & Blake each one who she had a special love for. She sang a special lullaby to her grandchildren that is fondly remembered as the ‘dodo’ song. For every holiday she loved dressing the girls up in the frilliest dresses and the boys in the most handsome outfits. The last several years she was challenged by Alzheimer’s but was fortunate to always recognize her family. Ruth was also preceded in death by her son in law, Johnnie Lipscomb who brought her much comfort in his friendship with her after her husband’s passing.  Ruth was a beloved sister, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother & was special to many and will be remember fondly by them all.  Visitation will be at The Church, 13423 Highway 431, St Amant, LA 70774 from 1:00pm until funeral service at 2:00pm on Friday, November 4, 2016. Interment and graveside service will take place Gate of Heaven Cemetery, in Ville Plate at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 5, 2016.  Arrangements by Church Funeral Services & Crematory, St. Amant 225-644-9683
